Wonder: A feeling of surprise mingled with admiration, caused by something beautiful, unexpected, unfamiliar, or inexplicable

Unexpected

This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about

Matthew 1:18

His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 1:18

Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace,

Matthew 1:19

Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

Matthew 1:19

When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt.

Matthew 2:13

Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”

Matthew 2:13

Unmarried Mother Unusual circumstances  Uncleanly labor room
Unmarried couple Unwanted travel Unrefined arrival
Unwilling Father Unimportant city  Unfair consequences

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:

Matthew 1:22

“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel (which means “God with us”).

Matthew 1:23
