The Elephant in the Room | Week 2 | Abortion

Abortion

Speaker: Grant Agler

To Christians:

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.

Jeremiah 1:5

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb

Psalm 139:13

When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

Luke 1:41

Separate DNA from the mother is found a few weeks after conception

Abortion is taking life

What should Christians do with this knowledge?

Do not take life

Personal faith in Christ and governing laws are very different

Jesus’ teachings were not intended to instruct government

You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.

Matthew 5:38-39

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

John 13:34

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.”

John 13:34

The authorities that exist have been established by God

Romans 13:1

Government is appointed by God to maintain order, you have been appointed by God to share his love

Christians are not responsible for the 60 million abortions each year

Christians are responsible to show the love of Christ to the 7.53 billion people who are alive on planet earth

What does love require of you?
